As a gay teacher, I have been so upset and crying my eyes out for two days now. I need to stand up and be strong for the individuals and families involved in this abomination! I am simply tired of running from who I am, from how I was born. I am and always have been an advocate for the youth of this country and I should not be a coward any longer! In honor of these individuals, I will be coming out COMPLETELY on 10/11/10. They deserve to have all of us out of the closet, ESPECIALLY teachers. They need to have a place to go and KNOW they are NOT alone! Thank you to these individuals and to so many of you for posting and for being a role model for me in this process.
